ARINC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support their GLOBALink Engineering (GLE) department located in the Annapolis, Maryland headquarters. GLE is a SEI/CMM level 3 engineering organization within the Aviation Solutions division of ARINC.The Aviation Solutions division provides communication products and services for commercial and business airline customers. GLE develops systems and solutions for high availability 24x7 data link services. Data link services provide clear, accurate, unambiguous data communications to enable air crews and systems to communicate and exchange information with ground crews and airline host systems. GLE systems are used in the continental US and most countries across the world.The Systems Engineer will support FAA programs modernizing the national airspace and its NextGen system. In particular, the candidate will:• Perform technical risk and gap analysis of system requirements and recommend changes• Provide architectural analysis including comparison of alternative solutions• Network and RF capacity and performance planning and analysis• Provide input to the development of industry standards• Provide engineering support for service trials• Support systems integration activities • Perform lab designGLE has a flexible working environment and offers competitive benefit package including, but not limited to, education reimbursement. Qualifications Required Experience:• Ten (10) years of engineering experience with focus on analyzing complex system (system of systems) performance requirements. • Experience analyzing and integrating complex systems. • Understanding of high availability data communications systems including detailed protocol knowledge and application requirements.The candidate must possess solid writing skills and strong verbal communication skills to work in a highly integrated team environment.Desired Experience:• Demonstrated experience with aeronautical communications (data and/or voice).• Working knowledge of air/ground communications (VDL Mode 2) and applications (ATN, FANS, and ACARS). • Experience with air traffic management systems and related services. • Experience with an airline operations center, air traffic services or avionics program is highly desired.Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering or related technical concentration. Master’s degree is typically required.
