ARINC is seeking a Staff Principal Software Engineer to join our Airports & Surface Transportation Division located in Annapolis, MD.

The Staff Principal Engineer will:
-Support all phases of the software engineering life cycle (from requirements analysis to code/unit test and system integration).
- Participate on a project team to adapt ARINC’s AIM rail control system to various new customers.
- Tailor base product to new customers, develop both customer specific and product enhancements.
- Provide software engineering support to help maintain our customer's operational train control systems under maintenance.
- Investigate and resolve system anomalies, develop minor enhancements, evaluate and assure continued system health.
- Work closely with development engineers to assure operational systems are supported in coordination with the latest product features.
- Establish effective working relationships with customer's support personnel such that an effective team is established to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve problems and/or to document potential upgrades. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess 5 plus years in software development with experience in the rail industry.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability and desire to troubleshoot and resolve open issues.
The candidate must posses solid writing skills and strong verbal communication skills to work in a highly integrated team environment.
Operating Systems Experience: Windows (2000, 98, 95, NT), Unix
Programming Languages: C/C++, JAVA, PERL, SQL, PL/SQL, Tcl/Tk and Python.

Desired Experience:
Experience working at a transit agency.
Experience working directly with customers in a product support environment.
RDBMS knowledge is a plus.

Education or Certification Requirements: Typically requires a masters degree in a technical area or equivalent.
