ARINC in Colorado Springs, CO is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support our Defense Systems Engineering (Advanced Applications) division. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for capturing and managing system-level requirements, documenting engineering processes that capture both hardware and software, developing system-level engineering documentation, sub-system engineering documentation, and translation to production processes. This position will improve the development processes in use to facilitate rapid transition from prototype to production. The Systems Engineer will interact with customers on a regular basis to assist with their needs, and will provide acquisition and programmatic support at meetings and teleconferences, such as PMR, TIMs, SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, and TRR. Some travel will be required. The ongoing goals for this position will be to successfully provide systems engineering design for hardware and software, system design documentation through delivery and installation, following information assurance guidelines and purchasing equipment.

Additional responsibilities are as follows:

• Act as a liaison between sensor hardware developers and data acquisition and processing software developers.
• Interface with existing team members to ensure that hardware and software functional and operational requirements are represented in the hardware and software architecture ensuring that performance requirements are met.
• Define and document functional and detailed requirements, and system specifications.
• Define and document rigorous engineering processes suitable for production engineering and manufacturing for military systems and manage schedule and timelines.
• Ensure that software and system tests are complete for specialized functions and representative of end-use conditions.
• Research and communicate complex product specifications, using resources such as product specifications, industry knowledge, and international standards.
• Prepare (write) principal product documentation for system use (operations manuals, maintenance manuals, logistics support packages).
• Participate in hands-on hardware/software integration tasks, as required. Qualifications Required Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in engineering process, including systems engineering documentation is required.
• Must have experience in requirements analysis, documentation and test.
• Strong experience in hardware/software integration and test is required.
• Must have significant knowledge of engineering processes and be able to adapt engineering processes suitable for moving from a prototype development environment to a production environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills are required.
• Must be able to work in a small, dynamic and skilled team.

Desired Experience: Experience with satellite communications between ground based systems and space vehicles is highly desired.

Education or Certification Requirements: Masters degree in engineering discipline or equivalent technical background and experience is required.
